Maryam is a dedicated and passionate lawyer, skilled in commercial and maritime law. She is an articulate problem solver with astute analytical, negotiation and communication skills. She is organised, meticulous and methodical; particularly adept in problem identification, research, analysis and resolution.
Maryam is a Counsel in the Admiralty, Shipping and Energy department of the Firm and she advises extensively on issues in the shipping and oil services industry, ranging from the registration of ship mortgages and other interests, maritime claims and casualties, including representing in litigation and arbitration disputes between shippers and/or charterers and government agencies, charterparty disputes, disputes relating to bills of lading, shipping agency disputes, cargo claims, arrest proceedings, among others.
She pioneered the Firm’s legal podcast – FC Pods. A platform where legal professionals, industry experts and significant stakeholders, discuss matters regarding international transportation, corporate and commercial law, energy, oil, gas and trade matters.
When she is not working, she enjoys travelling, cycling and creative writing.
