Maryam is a highly skilled and dedicated international lawyer with a robust background in commercial and maritime law. Renowned for her articulate problem-solving abilities, she brings a methodical and detail-oriented approach to legal challenges, combining astute analytical, negotiation, and communication skills to deliver exceptional results.
Currently serving as Counsel in the Admiralty, Shipping, and Energy Department of the Firm, Maryam provides comprehensive legal advice across the shipping and oil services industries. Her expertise encompasses maritime claims and casualties, litigation, and arbitration. She represents clients in a variety of disputes, including charterparty issues, bill of lading claims, shipping agency disputes, cargo claims, and arrest proceedings. Her deep understanding of the maritime sector ensures strategic and effective representation in contentious and non-contentious matters.
Maryam holds a leadership role as the Assistant Secretary of the Maritime Committee, Section on Business Law, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA-SBL). In this capacity, she efficiently oversees administrative operations, fosters collaboration within the Committee and with external stakeholders, and drives initiatives that enhance the maritime legal community.
As an innovator, Maryam pioneered her Firm’s legal podcast, FC Pods, a platform for insightful discussions with industry leaders and legal professionals.
